A major step has recently been taken by the government of Bangladesh, which has come as good news for all internet users across the country. The headline? Reduced Internet Prices 10% – Officially Announced
According to a report by First Light, the Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company has reduced the prices of all their internet services by 10%. This decision was made in a board meeting on 22 March 2025 and was officially announced through a press release on 23 March.
What are the benefits for mobile and broadband users?
This decision will affect internet services in two ways:
- Mobile Internet: Teletalk and other mobile operators have started discounting their internet packages.
- Broadband service: The cost of ISP or Broadband companies will come down, as a result customers can also get Internet at a lower cost in the future.
According to the official press release, International Gateway (IIG) Bandwidth prices will drop by 10 percent at the level, and the transmission cost of the telecom company will be reduced by about 39 percent।
How Much Real Benefits for Consumers?
This question may come to many people’s minds. In this context, IIGAB President Aminul Hakim said that the effect of price reduction is directly at the consumer level It will come gradually if not immediately. Volume can increase, especially in larger packages.
However Robi Corporate and Regulatory Officer Saheed Alam said that they welcome the price reduction decision and will implement the price reduction for customers very soon.

Teletalk is the first in their data package as per this government decision 10% discount announced. This can be confirmed from today’s message. Other operators like—Grameenphone, Robi, Banglalink—are expected to follow suit soon.
